Steve had an amazing time speaking at the TEDx lectures in Lausanne last week. He met dozens of inspirational and exciting people and watched some truly memorable speeches. With such a great crowd and that world famous chocolate, it’s a wonder he came back!

Steve had a brilliant time being interviewed about his work and dyslexia on Live With Gabby. Gabby is a wonderful, friendly person and everyone who worked on the show was also charming and professional. Steve just thinks it’s a shame that it’s on in the mornings when he has to be working in the studio!

There has been lots of talk recently about the world coming to an end in 2012. Then again, the world was meant to end plenty of times before, and did it happen? No! This year we have two incredible reasons to be happy. First, in June, we have the celebration of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, an amazing 60 year reign. July then brings us the greatest show on Earth – the Olympics. The world isn’t going to end this year. In fact, it’s looking better than ever.

Steve has been an artist for as long as he has been a designer. Since he was just four years old, Steve has been happy as long as he has scissors, a bag of glitter and some magic markers.

Most people know Steve for his collaborations with some of the country’s best-loved brands through his years of work in design and branding. Now, however, the hidden artist side to Steve is being revealed.

Just like the outsider artists used to, Steve works privately on his art when away from his commissioned work. It is the combination of these two disciplines, creatively employed by Steve 24 hours a day, that helps keep the flare and passion alive.

As everyone knows, Steve loves making his Christmas wisdom videos. He believes that Christmas is about families and children, and one of the loveliest things to do together is to make something beautiful and festive! Gather up materials you have lying around the house, huddle together around the kitchen table and make something you can all be proud of! As Steve always says, everybody is an artist.

This year’s Christmas wisdom will give you the confidence to make a beautiful angel hanging mobile. Steve loves angels and being one, and angel-themed creations are some of his favourite to make! So this Christmas go back to basics and have days of creative fun with your family.

One of Steve’s favourite artists is Alexander Calder. Steve loves Calder’s signature pieces – classic hanging mobiles dating from 1932.  Steve has mobiles in both his home and the studio, and can often be seen gazing at them for hours! We never do know what he’s thinking…

This week Steve tells us how fishing line can be used for far more than just fishing. Still as resourceful as he was in his Boy Scout days, Steve shows you how, whether you need to repair your broken glasses or fix a necklace chain, fishing line is good for fixing everything!

Steve had a brilliant time giving a talk at Sheffield University last week. He spoke all about his life in design and hoped to inspire the many students that had come to see him. He loved meeting so many determined, passionate people and was reminded of when he was just embarking on his own career!

One of Steve’s favourite ever stocking fillers is a Slinky. The toy was developed in the early 1940s, and Steve never gets bored of watching its incredible energy as it springs its way down the stairs! For Steve, the best bit is the great sound the metal Slinky makes. He could easily pass hours just watching and listening to these classic toys!
